Starting out with engaging drums and a sooting guitar line, “Matchstick” is an endearing tune that will entrance listeners from the first note. The singing is enticing, building in energy as the chorus hits in a way that opens up the sound. The video features shots of flames and matches that are as alluring to watch as the lyrics are to listen to. Towards the bridge the music begins to settle before bringing back more energy than before, leaving listeners on a high note as the song comes to an end. We met CLARA-NOVA on a tour we did of the east coast a few years back. We hit it off and, since we all live in Los Angeles, decided to get into the studio and see what would happen. We wrote & recorded the basics of “Matchstick” very quickly one afternoon. It felt like we were all on the same wavelength and the song just appeared. It will be released as a single this Friday, October 11th. It will be released as an EP with two other songs we did on October 25th. This is the first collaboration we’ve done in a few years. She’s doing the lead vocals on this track.

The married duo of French girl Marie Seyrat and American boy Bruce Driscoll have self-created their own universe around music – producing, mixing, mastering, vastly growing a catalogue of over 250 original songs and covers and accompanying visuals. Whther it’s an emotional folk ballad or a fun pop banger about zombies in love, they have an unquestionable knack for melodic mastery and a catchy, timeless tune no matter the genre and for any mood. Following the success of “Shaky Ground”, in 2017 they released six more singles and two EPs. Indie Shuffle named them “Best Indie Rock of 2017”. In 2018 they partnered with Kobalt/AWAL and released their debut album, “Classic”, followed by a 10-city tour that stretched from their hometown of Los Angeles to Paris. This year, they’re releasing a 3-track EP every month and opened up their studio, The Cactus Garden, to collaborating with other artists. Freedom Fry songs have been remixed by the likes to Sofi Tukker and Penguin Prison. They’re a playlist favorite and have been supported by the tastemakers at Alt Nation, KEXP, ALT 98.7, KROQ, WXPN, SIRIUS XM, the BBC, and numerous iHeart Media stations.
