“Lonely” by Xander Nelson is a brooding and beautiful ballad full of heartache and guitar magic. Lines that I thought were pretty sick were “I hate being lonely but lonely sure loves being me”. The harmonic use of the dominant five to get back to the minor one is a trick that features perfectly with the style. Gorgeous modulated guitars enter the production in the second verse. The song structure is familiar and the dynamics rise and fall in the way you’d expect with the structure which for me was a good touch given the lyrical topic. Xander Nelson is a shredder and prolific songwriter from Maine. Give “Lonely” some love!
