elkvilla’s “Through the Winter” warms your winter bones

Coming from Australia’s own elkvilla, Through the Winter is a glimpse of Spring in these final winter days. Utilizing ambient guitar tones and warm echoing vocal melodies, elkvilla manages to weave an aural picture that feels isolated like a snowy plain at dusk, yet warm and hopeful like a warm morning sun. His lyrics speak of worry and impending loneliness, sung with a mournful quietness and restrain; yet there is comfort in the cinematic instrumental lifts that are accompanied by vocal “ahhs” and glistening guitar accents. Truly a song that embodies everything it set out to be, and it’s the perfect song to bring you out of your shell for yet another chilly Thursday morning.

Elkvilla is a new solo project of Sydney born producer Adam Dudek. The sound is a wistful collection of achingly beautiful track acoustic & post-rock tunes balancing the ornate riffs against anthemic electro influences, breaching a sonic spectrum that pays tribute to the influences of Elliott Smith , Daughter and Ben Howard.

Elkvilla’s debut EP is recorded and mixed in solidarity of his berlin apartment during the winter and will be released track by track monthly during 2019. Its the soundtrack to falling snow, late nights and the lack of a lover’s hand in the cold.
