Featuring a performance video complete with a string section and choir, Sam Lyon’s “Clear” is beautiful in a way that requires you to sit back and let the sound surround you. The U.K.-based vocalist has a voice that’s delicate and emotive while still being able to take the lead. The lush choir accompaniment provides ample harmonies that elevate the chorus’s impact with an even greater aural pay-off in the very final verse. The strings made me think I was about to hear Pachelbel’s Canon in D after the first few notes, but their melodic interjections provide extra motion and timbre to the overall instrumentation.
