Okay Mann “Ring Road”

Jubilus melodies and heavy hands strumming at an uplifting tempo brings us Okay Mann’s “Ring Road”. It’s hard to not feel happy especially when the trumpet plays melodic passages during the bridge before the final chorus leads us running together like little rivers through to the end of “Ring Road”. Assumedly “Ring Road” was chosen as the title because Okay Mann has found a lover they want to marry and are therefore going down ring road with them. Lyrically artistic yet poignant “Ring Road” is definitely something you’re going to want to listen to if you’re feeling romantic and lighthearted.

LYRICS:

All the birds in every tense, they’re singin’ just the same except for you
Half of my words they make no sense, but I’ll sing them so the sane will get to you

And I’m filled with all these questions like how the winter kept me in and how the hands of time keep flying by so fast
I hope the field won’t argue that I’m picking just for rind because the taste of fruit was sweeter in the past

If you’re blind and I’m deaf and dumb let’s run together: little rivers towards the sun
If you’ve forgotten then you’re free, and I just want to lock you down here with me

Pay no mind: this ain’t no recompense because the letters I received are single-paged
You’re on the ring road. No need to second guess: I’m just smiling to deceive and disengage

Well it’s hard to stop this feeling dear from rickling my pines without pulling every needle from my arm
This won’t be the last one, yes I’m trying to change my mind but slow and steady dear, I’m trying to do you no harm

If you’re blind and I’m deaf and dumb let’s run together: little rivers towards the sun
If you’ve forgotten then you’re free, and I just want to lock you down here with me

If you’re blind and I’m deaf and dumb let’s run together: little rivers towards the sun
If you’ve forgotten then you’re free, and I just want to lock you down here with me

PRESS NOTES:

5’11”, 150 lbs, and eyes like his father; meet Katlin Mathison – otherwise known as Okay Mann. Katlin upholds the indie folk tradition of the rolling stone. After years of relentless travel, a mentorship with Paul McCartney, and a gold single in Norway have eventually led him back to the harsh winters of his home on the Canadian prairies.

In 2017, while exploring both modern recording technology and traditional analog methods, Okay Mann teamed up with Norwegian producer Nils Børstrand to record his debut release, Little Mersey – a snapshot caught on magnetic tape of a city left behind. The 8 song EP quickly racked up hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify, and was called “A full-circle reverie of the finest order” by Dominionated and garnered many new fans, such as Audiotox: “We think Okay Mann has the potential become 2018’s next indie-radio wonder.”

After some time writing and recording in Oslo, Winnipeg, and Vancouver, Okay Mann is back. A buzz is starting to gather surrounding each follow-up release – a string of singles leading up to his sophmore release.
