It’s been 23 days since I first heard (and immediately accepted) Laveda’s new single, “Dream. Sleep.,” and I’ve been waiting ever so impatiently to share with you. Well here it is- and you really need to hear it! Only the 2nd release from the Albany-based duo, “Dream. Sleep.” is full-bodied indie that marries the floating effervescence of dream pop with the driving bite of shoegaze. Laveda’s vocals are airy and lush, with an almost trancelike quality that pairs well with soaring distorted guitar tones and bright synth lines throughout. A well-crafted percussive kit and bass balance out the mix on the bottom end, and provide the final pieces for what has to be one of my top releases of 2019 so far. With an album due out this spring, we’ll be keeping a close eye on what’s next for New York’s rising duo!
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Heavily influenced by 90s Shoegaze, Laveda’s music can be best described as rugged Dream Pop. Formed in the summer of 2017, the creative project was founded by Ali Genevich and Jake Brooks. Having rapidly developed their sound over the past year, the duo has made huge growth in their sound. They have morphed their songs from simplistic Singer-Songwriter styles into an overwhelming and full-fledged listening experience.
Currently Laveda has been focused on further developing their own style out of Brooklyn NY. They plan to release their first record in Spring of 2019.
