Lightnin’ Luke – “Trouble In Mind” – DIY Sessions

Strutting dominant chords and a virtuoso violin player support the heartfelt crooning of Lightnin’ Luke for his version of the song “Trouble In Mind” which features an original chorus.  I feel like I just watched the Ballad of Buster Scruggs for a second time when I’m checking out this track. Recorded live in Houston, TX, five months into a year-long tour of North America.  Lightnin’ Luke plays violin and is part of the group The Bridge City Sinners from Portland, OR.  You should check out his websites calendar  (http://lightninluke.com/new-page-1/) because you can get his personal schedule including recording sessions which is a highly open and interesting approach that bridges the gap between artist and audience in a way I haven’t seen thus far.  No surprise this musician went to Berklee College of Music given his extensive and impressive resume which you can also find online.  Keep your eyes on Lightnin’ Luke and check out his projects for authentic and raw music straight from the soul.

MORE ON THE ARTIST:

“Soulful, passionate, and sincere are the words used most frequently when describing Portland-raised Lightnin’ Luke. Singer, songwriter, and violinist, Luke’s bluesy vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and wild fiddle playing have made him a versatile musical force in the Rose City’s thriving roots scene. Whether it be as a solo folk and blues singer-songwriter, or in front of his high energy, roots-driven backing band, the “Downpour,” or as a fiddler in country and folk bands around the West Coast, Lightin’ gets audience’s emotions running high in every show he performs.
