“Open Sea” by Thomas LaVine starts off with a dreamy introduction that gains rhythm much like a wave crashing on a beach. Thomas LaVines vocal timbre is soothing and the lyrics begin with much reflection and mystery written into the lines. A gong sounds and I’m instantly reminded me of artists like Death Cab for Cutie or Bon Iver. “Open Sea” builds louder and louder and the ambient textures are much like sea creatures supporting the lead melody.
