Trip-hop vibes are strong in “Rice and Tangerines” by Carey Clayton. The low and brooding vocal approach is reminiscent of “Something in the Way” by Nirvana before giving way to a much more modern and tasteful chorus that calls influence from something maybe around Becks Morning Phase. It’s a groovy song that draws one in for the calming beat and keeps them for the expanding chorus. It’s a song for the times, check out Carey Claytons “Rice and Tangerines”.
