Kylie Rothfield x The Rare Ones “Where The Diamonds Hide (Feat. The Rare Ones)”

Kylie’s latest single “Where The Diamonds Hide” is a bright and breezy indie pop-rock tune about ditching the script and finding value outside the usual grind—think nature, love, and self-worth over dollar signs. It’s her fifth and final single before her debut album Lover Like That drops on May 9 and the choice in collab is impeccable. God damn that chorus hits just right.

Co-written with The Rare Occasions (who also feature on the track), the song leans into stacked vocals, jangly guitars, and that sunny-day, windows-down kind of energy. There’s a hint of The Killers and Two Door Cinema Club in the mix, and Kylie’s smooth, low-key vocals play nicely against Brian McLaughlin’s in the second verse. It’s got that clean studio punch, but still feels lived-in—with live drums and bass tracked at Clearlake Studios and the rest cooked up at home. The lyric video is gorgeous visualizations of LA.

Bonus points: the song was mixed by Robert Stevenson (Beach Weather) and mastered by Dave McNair (Beck), so it sounds as good as it feels.
