Jovi Skyler released an EP on April 5th of 2024. “Call It A Day” features four tracks; “Asshole” a driving punk track with pounding drums and palpable energy in drums, vocals and guitars, “Lil Bo Weep” is about the life and struggles of the late Adelaide songwriter and features the same punk inspiration with influence in the vocals that reminds me of Scott Weiland, “Frankenstein” takes a big left turn from the energetic track and becomes more soft and introspective with reflective pacing and instrumentation that is consistent with the rest of the release but the performances are much different and more calming, “Rumble” rounds out the EP and pacing wise falls somewhere between the first two tracks and “Frankenstein” but much closer to the out the gates rage and energy from the first two tracks.
Jovi Skyler produce music that falls into punk, alternative rock with an early ’90s spirit and a twist of psychedelia. A vegetarian hailing from Sydney Australia, Jovi Skyler really embodies the true spirit of punk rock in his anthemic grungy music that would be right at home playing in dives around the world. To date Jovi Skyler has released over twenty plus records to their bandcamp which you can find here.
