Out now via Dromedary Records, “Escape Velocity” is the latest single from Dew Claw’s upcoming album E.L.F., due May 9. The track captures a spirited blend of classic and garage rock, featuring tight breaks in the backbeat and bass lines reminiscent of John Entwistle or Paul McCartney. Its accompanying video—filmed in and around Mooncake Flower Farm—is a delightfully absurd, Monkees-inspired satire of work life and validation culture, full of the kind of goofy charm that makes it feel like a group of friends just hanging out and making music together. Dew Claw’s Stephen Hunking and Chris Xefos lean into the chaos with sincerity and humor, proving that DIY energy and old-school band camaraderie are alive and well. I’d love to be able to purchase some of these cards, maybe they’ll be at Dew Claw’s merch stand.
