Western Threads “Sex Cult” is a dreamy yet driving track with beautiful soothing vocals. It’s a surprising topic for a duet but it’s a fun track. I’d imagine this band puts on a great live show and that the two vocalists interactions would be fun to witness for a song with this topic. This song reminds me of the joy of creation. Anchored by the husband / wife duo of Jacob Lewis and Ainsley Richter, Western Threads are an indie-rock band from Austin, Texas. Austin isn’t the type of place I’d expect for a sex cult but then again I don’t know very much about sex cults. I’d say this song sits nicely next to “Foundations” by Kate Nash or other tongue in cheek indie pop tracks.
Other members include Jeff Fazio (guitar, lap steel), Mike Mangiapane (drums) and Christopher McBee (bass).
