The FBR “Independence Day” is a track about being with someone who is present physically but mentally isn’t with you. What really drew me into the song was the vintage vocal sound and the beautiful melody that has the vocal harmony arranged so well to support certain lines. “Might as well have been by myself” really drives the message home. This reminds me of early Brendan Benson in its organic textures and thoughtful lyrics. When I reached the mid-point of the song I was rewarded with harmonica and brass which is a touch that not everyone uses. The dynamics swell and meet the high vocal energy and just like that “Independence Day” concludes, it’s a beautiful and thoughtful track. Check it out!
