Jake Huffman’s “Vampires In Hippie Clothes”

Jake Huffman’s “Vampires In Hippie Clothes” is a dark pop track that combines a variety of genres such as pop-rock choruses and reggae verses into a seamless summer production that highlights Jake’s multi-instrumental talents. “Vampires In Hippie Clothes” has unique production with a half-down chorus and half-full chorus as the introduction to the chorus in general. The down chorus features a wandering pad guitar line and a soft organ holding down the chorus before the full chorus hits and the backbeat returns with a strummed acoustic filling out the sonic space. Verse 2 is a familiar reggae feel with a pop backbeat but the organ hitting those upstroke chords and a lounge piano creates hooks around the vocal melody. A down bridge that is similar to the chorus but contains some piano work that is reminiscent of classic pop-rock band the Fray and “heys” that are perfectly placed like the Lumineers. Jake Huffman has been a favorite on this blog for his tasteful songwriting and production style and “Vampires in Hippie Clothes” is no different than some of his other features. A perfect summer song.
